Hi there. Check out my group on Manipulatives and Games. I had the same experience of teaching 6-8th grade math with students who didn't know their mulitplication facts. I think the idea I shared under resources and my group would help you. Let me know what you think. Thanks! Kristi Hardwin

So I am not a math teacher but I want to know: what kind of lesson ideas are you looking for? What's hard to find? Tell me what you need, and I'll go looking for it. Stav
-
I liked the activities. What i meant was I can do an activity that helps explain a concept, but then transferring the information to computation, etc doesn't seem to work well. I have had others telling me the same. It may just be the 4th grade curriculum. For example. The class can add fractions when I walk them through how to find the equivalent fractions on fraction strips, but they can't transfer it on their own.
-
I've added a few resources that I think is what you want. Take a look and let me know. Stav

I teach a 4th grade math class as well as other subjects. I like to try to add hands on activities to my math class. At times the activities don't transfer well to the "paper and pencil" method. So I ma looking for ideas that help students understand the concepts in a way that they can easily apply it in their daily work.
