I read many different versions of the story The Gingerbread Man (ex. girl, cowboy, boy, baby, etc). Then we graph our favorite and make our own.
- Different versions of the famous story The Gingerbread Man. For example: The Gingerbread Girl, The Gingerbread Boy, The Gingerbread Cowboy, The Gingerbread Pirate, The Gingerbread Baby, The Runaway Tortilla...
- Children make comparisons using stories to show similarities and differences.
- Great opportunity to discuss character.
Each day read a different version of the story and keep a running list on chart paper of the characters in each story and if the cookie got eaten or not. In the end make a graph of which story each student liked best. I used gingerbread cutouts for each child's vote.
You could make a class story or new version of this tale.
